Pikes Peak

Andy and I went to visit our friends Blake and Katie in Colorado Springs this weekend. We got there Saturday night and got up early the next morning to hike Pikes Peak.

The hike was awesome! In my opinion, this was definitely the prettiest 14er we have done. The weather was great and it was just fun to be hiking with friends. We couldn't get over the views. They were breathtaking! Unlike any of the other 14ers we've done, there is the option of driving your car up to the top or riding in a cograil so there is a little shop at the top for the tourists. We (or maybe I should say I=)) was thrilled about this shop because we were able to sit down inside, eat lunch, and relax for a little bit before heading back down. It was a nice treat!

The hike down was REALLY REALLY STEEP and we were feeling it in our joints even before we got to the bottom. After stopping for dinner, we drove back to Colorado Springs for the real treat- the hot tub! It was great to sit in the hot tub after hiking 13 miles while looking out to see Pikes Peak framed by the trees in the distance. It was crazy to look at the mountain from our spot on the porch and think that we had hiked it, stood on top of it, and now we were sitting in a hot tub taking it all in. A great finish to a great day!
